Apple notebooks have seen strong sales in February. The Macbook Air might have something to do with that.
Apple still has a long way to go before they start bothering Microsoft’s dominance. Slowly but surely Microsoft is loosing ground though by being attacked from two sides. Apple attacks with cool hardware paired with stylish and easy to use user interfaces. On the other front Linux comes in with low priced hardware that just does the job as well as a more expensive Windows system.

  • Gizmodo Busted Psystar

According to MacRumors, a company called Psystar has started advertising a $399 computer called “OpenMac” which claims to be a Leopard compatible Mac built from standard PC-parts. For $399, you get a tower computer with the following specs:

    OpenMac

    - 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

    - 2GB of DDR2 667 memory

    - Integrated Intel GMA 950 Graphics

    - 20x DVD+/-R Drive

    - 4 USB Ports

    - 250GB 7200RPM Drive

However, the Apple’s End User License Agreement (EULA) states that it is illegal to use Leopard on non-Apple product. The company, Psystar, was immediately contacted by MacRumors for questioning on the product and for confirming whether the company knowingly violates the Apple EULA. According to an article posted from MacRumors, Psystar is Challenging Apple’s EULA by saying:

[Robert] also said Psystar believes Apple’s prohibition against third-party installations might not hold up in court: “What if Honda said that, after you buy their car, you could only drive it on the roads they said you could?”

Upon learning Apple’s EULA is being challenged, much more from a never-heard-of company, Gizmodo sent in its investigation crew to locate the physical location of Psystar for further interview. Within the day of investigation, Psystar’s physical address was relocated from a residential household to supplying company called, USA KOEN PACK. Needless to say, there was never a physical location for Psystar. Further finding from Miami Chamber of Commerce and BBB confirm that there was never a registered company called Psystar.

Gizmodo urged that this is a hoax. Please be informed not to do business with Psystar because they’re not an official company from Miami Chamber of Commerce and BBB and there isn’t a physical location for the company.
